| The modern believer, especially in the West, has the unique privilege of having available many great books by many great Christians from different backgrounds and from different periods in the history of the Church. God gifted me with an intense love for reading when I was very young and I have read much over the years. Given the fact that our time here is limited and that we certainly cannot read everything, I offer this "Essential Reading List" list of books that I think every believer should read. I have arranged the list in three different categories - "Beginning"; "Intermediate"; and "Advanced." This is meant to give a general idea on when in your spiritual maturity a book can benefit you most. I cannot tell you when you are in one of these "categories"; that is entirely between you and your Lord - these categories are in no way meant to imply different "classes" of believers. Most of all, remember to always give top priority to God's Word - it is our Ultimate Reference Point. |
