| The English Patient
| I went to see this one because it was the only movie starting after 11 pm on Thanksgiving night. To my surprise it was a pretty good show, a bit slow but interesting. Set during WWII, a man, the patient, has flashbacks of occurrances that lead to him being a patient. That description doesn't do the movie justice but I don't want to tell you too much of the story. Go see it for yourself. |
| Star Trek: First Contact
| Hey! What can I say about the 8th Star Trek movie. The even ones (2, 4, 6, and 8) are good and the odd ones (1, 3, 5) are not. Number 7 (Star Trek: Generations) was pretty good though. I liked this one except for the side story about the father of warp-flight. This should only get 3 Texas' but since I'm a Star Trek fan, I'm adding another 1/2. |
| High School High
| OK, let me explain why I went to see this one. I had a free pass that was going to expire and I had to use it on a movie that accepted passes, this was the only movie that I hadn't already seen. Stupid, stupid, stupid movie, understand? |
| The Mirror Has Two Faces
| This is the Barbra Streisand movie with Jeff Bridges. It was an interesting story and probably a good movie to take a date to. |
| Ransom
| Another great movie by Ron Howard with Mel Gibson and Rene Russo. This is the story of a self-made millionaire and how he handles the kidnapping of his son differently than most. I highly recommend this one. |
| Michael Collins
| A very good movie with Liam Neeson, Julia Roberts, and Aidan Quinn. This is the story of Micheal Collins, one of the men who started the Irish Republican Army (IRA) in the early 1900's. |
| The Glimmer Man
| An OK story about a cop, Steven Seagal, with a background and his new partner, Keenan Ivory Wayans. We get the normal Seagal movie, where he beats everyone up even though he didn't want to fight in the first place. To tell you the truth, it's been about a week since I've seen this one and I don't remember too much about it. Thats not a good sign. |
| The Long Kiss Goodnight
| A good show with Gena Davis and Samual L. Jackson. She's a wife and mother who has amnesia for eight years and then finds out that she was once an assassin thought to be dead. Now the bad? guys want her dead again. Lots of action. |
| Sleepers
| This one was good and has alot of stars in it (Robert DeNiro, Dustin Hoffman, Brad Pitt, Kevin Bacon, Jason Patrick). It's the story of four childhood friends who are abused in a boys detention center and how they handle it when they are grown (i.e., revenge). Thats all I'm going to tell you. |
| Last Man Standing
| I like Bruce Willis films but this one was kind of dumb. We have a stranger come into a town 'owned' by 2 rival gangs in the 1920's and everyone just spills their guts about the other side. I guess the writer needed a way to let us know what is happening in this town. Anyway, I didn't think it was much of a story but you could tell a few other people thought it was the best show they have seen. I'll leave this one up to you, but I'm wouldn't suggest it to any of my friends. |
| Maximum Risk
| Ok, I admit it. I like Jean Claude Van Damme movies. This one is not only action but mysterious. I have to recommend this one, hmmm, maybe I should add another . |
| Bogus
| It's OK, I wouldn't pay full price for it, and I didn't. If I had to describe this one it would be - cute. BTW, this is the Woopie movie where she takes care of a little kid. No, not the one with Dr. Dougie Howser and not Corrina Corrina. It's the one with the little kid from Forest Gump/Jeff Foxworthy show. |
| Tin Cup / Kingpin
| Worth seeing, but nothing new. Matter of fact, I think someone in Hollywood got a script about a guy who is good in a sport (golf or bowling) when he was younger, and then something happens and now (many years later) he tries to make a come back. But, his friend when he was younger is now his ememy (Don Johnson / Bill Murray). One more thing, Tin Cup is more serious while Kingpin is slapstick. |
| 12 Monkeys
| OK, this one I rented and I'm glad I did. Very interesting story about a man who is sent back in time to gather information about a man-made virus that will kill 5 billion people in the future (our future, his past). Stars Bruce Willis and was well worth the $3 rental fee, if not more. |
| Island of Dr. Moraeu
| A remake not worth remaking. Wow! We get to see Marlon Brando again. I honestly believe that is the only reason it was the number 1 film in the country for it's opening week. |
| Bordello of Blood
| This is a Tales From the Crypt movie that is OK but could have been done for HBO instead of making me pay $6.50. Anyway, I should have waited till it came to HBO. |
| TrainSpotting
| TrainSpotting is a Scottish film about the lives of five young people in Edinburgh, Scotland and how they deal with life and drugs. This show is not for people with weak stomachs, we see several disturbing scenes with at least two involving human feces. Overall, the show was very enjoyable and I highly recommend it to those who can see R rated movies. |
| Joe's Apartment
| Don't waste your money! Unfortunately, I did. Of the thirty people in the theater at the start of the movie, twelve of them walked out, I counted! |
