1. If you are female, get your hair cut very short. or grow it very long.
The rest of us need to
find something to cover our hair or let go of vanity.
2. Don't go on the Fantome New Year's cruise, expecting a New Year's Eve
party. Apparently, the Captain and the activity director assumed that everyone
on the ship would prefer to party with the beautiful people on St Bart's.
Some did, but a about
half of us didn't.
3. Never go into your bathroom, when the ship is rocking hard, and expect
to stay dry.
4. Men, who plan to shave should bring electric razors. Otherwise, you could
do serious damage to your face and neck.
5. Why do people who get seasick do Windjammer cruises over and over?
6. Talk to everybody. You are sure to make life-time friends.
7. Teen-agers of Windjammmer parents tend to
be nice kids. They also do very well on the cruise. The biggest problem
I had with them is that they all look so wonderful. Anyone who thinks teen-agers
don't understand some of the stuff that goes on on cruises never lived with
teen-agers. All that said, I would not like to be on a Windjammer with kids
any younger than 13.
8. Never stand with your fork pointing out when the ship is rocking-you
might just stab a fellow passenger.
9. Take an extra day off after you get back. You'll need it.
10. Go snorkeling, and/or diving. The water is wonderful.
11. The islands are wonderful.
12. The wine and cheese party was great fun-great wine and fantastic cheese.
13. Don't go expecting to get lots of sleep, but it's ok-that's why you
take the day off at the end of the cruise.
14. If you want to sleep better, get at least a queen sized room or bunks.
15. Do go on the America's Cup Sailboat races if you have the opportunity.
16. Pack in carry-on's. You could lose your luggage. Don't pack very many
tee-shirt, because you will buy some.
17. Plan to forget that you even have a job at home.
18. Start planning your next cruise, your diet and exercise program as soon
as you get off the boat.
