A Grand Lady Is Gone
Today with much sadness, Bill and had to say Goodbye and we
had to say Thank You for spending your 16 1/2 loving us.!!!
I do not usually post when we lose one, but since so many of
you do not know her, I want to share about this bitch.
We called Berry. Her Dam was
Ringdove Quinella and her Sire Sunday Morning Coming down.
From the very, she was very
special to Bill and I. When she was almost two yrs. old, she came
into contact with Fungal Spores. Thankfully, Cheri Boutelle noticed
a slight swelling in her gland. Not serious, we all thought. When
we got home, I took her to my vet and he gave me some pills and said
if she is not better in 7 days, bring her back.
three days later, she was
deathly sick. Tim took a biopsy of the node and sent it to Texas
A&M. Three days later, they call him and she had the fungal
disease. Since they had to do a culture which would take two weeks
to find which of the four it was. Tim started her on Baytril, which
he knew might work on three of them.
They told me that she might not make it, also, she could
lose her eyesight. Also, she probably couldn't race because of the
stamina.
Well, this Bitch didn't know all this. I watched all the
time for eye problems. One day, she was looking out the door
towards the lake, barking her head off. I got up to see why and I
couldn't see anything so I told her to be quiet but no. I finally
spotted a man fishing about 4 lots away. Then I knew there was
nothing wrong with her eyes.
As, she got stronger, we would
let her free run at Celina. She went on to get her ARM and RCH.She
was second to Eddy at the NAWRA in Indio in 1995.
She was never to be bred. I talked to 5 different Vets, and
all gave her a 50/50 chance of surviving. We decided no puppies
were worth that gamble. She spent the rest of her life being MAMA
to every puppy that came into our house.
Today was one of the hardest day for me but all I can do
after the crying is to smile and say Berry Thanks For The
Memories!!!!
