May 2004
After a computer crash and a host of problems, issues and disappointments - I have finally got things going again - 3 months later.
I've been working with Matt, Brandon and Donnie on a website that Matt had started - Diary of an Axeman. Moved a few things from my site to his site, mainly all the articles. Matt's got them grouped together into different time frames and stuff. There's some other cool stuff in there, you ought to check it out.
> Blizzard & Diary Tour Reviews - added a few reviews from the 1980 UK Tour,... from the frist show in Glasgow, Scotland, and one from the later part of that tour, from Brighton on Halloween. The Brighton review is some type of retrospect review,... but still worthy of posting. Also, added a review from the New Years Eve 1981 show in Los Angeles, California.
> On Tour 1975 - 1982 - Added another ticket stub image from the 1981 German Diary of a Madman Tour, and one or two more dates from the 1980 UK Tour. SO far, there are 310 entries,... 265 that Randy played, the remaining shows were scheduled but with other guitarists.
> Mislabeled Rhoads Recordings - newly found San Antonio (2.19.82),... turns out to be the same source as Minneapolis 1982. No cover artwork or anything.
February 2004
> On Tour 1975 - 1982 - Added all the missing dates from September and October of the 1980 UK Blizzard of Ozz tour - which are no longer missing,... because I found them,... in a friends collection. Wish he'd of sent me that sooner. 260 entires so far.
On the subject of the 1980 UK Blizzard of Ozz tour, with Donnie's ad promoting that tour, it was discovered that the Southampton, England show - the show where the Ozzy Osbourne Live E.P. and two songs from Tribute were recorded - was performed on October 2nd, 1980, not October 20th, 1980 as was previously reported. This was the first of three shows recorded for commercial purposes - which means somewhere, someone has got to have a copy of this show in its entirety.
> Added another Kevin DuBrow interview accessible from the front page.
> Recently, I've been helping out with another Randy Rhoads web site, that should be functional pretty soon. The current plans are to have a different downloadable bootleg (audio only at this point) each month, so that would give everyone a chance to collect some bootlegs without having to trade, buy or bid on eBay. I will mention more about it as things develope.
January 2004
Happy New Year,...
> March 19, 1982 - accident article from Daytona Beach and Miami were added.
> Bootleg Checklist - added a couple more Quiet Riot shows to this list.
December 2003
> Blizzard & Diary Tour Reviews - added some concert reviews from each tour Randy did with Ozzy - Blizzard of Ozz from 1980 in Hull, England, 1981 at the Port Vale Football Club, England; Diary of a Madman from 1981 in Liverpool, England and in 1982 from Tucson, Arizona. I unearthed the Tucson stuff myself, but have to thank Gary Forrester for the plethora of UK stuff,... including one of the pictures I used on the front last month and this months picture.., thanks Gary.
> Bernie Tormé - added an article about his departure from the Blizzard of Ozz band in 1982,... "Bernie Bins Blizzard."
> March 19, 1982 - accident article from Tampa, Florida was added, I've got three more from Florida sitting on my desk.
> Mislabeled Rhoads Recordings - added some information about the actual origins of the song Mr. Cool, found on various bootleg recordings and added some minor details to some stuff in there, you'd probably not even notice.
> Randy Rhoads Song Index - added more information about a few songs and added some new entires,... a bulk of songs from some live recording sessions, demos and rehearsal (1975 - 1977) - 20 new tracks in all! The list has a total of 116 Randy Rhoads selections, 5 of which Randy does not play on.
> My Randy Rhoads Biography - not only in English and French, it can now be read in Russian. Thanks Milly.
November 2003
> Added a bunch of information on some Rhoads related band members on the main page - a family tree of sorts. Cleaned up the section with all the accident reports and added a few things into the Randy Rhoads on tour part of the site,... mainly just a date and location of a 1981 in-store appearence by the Blizzard of Ozz band in Canada. Was also sent some information on a few more mislabeled recordings,... added those.
> Added two reviews of the June 23, 1981 show in Tucson, Arizona, as well as a review of the April 2nd, 1982 Diary of a Madman show in Boston with Bernie Tormé - the later on the Bernie Tormé page, obviously.
> Added a couple of articles about the March 19, 1982 accident from San Diego, California. I also fixed the article from Seattle, Washington - apparently I'd lost the text portion, but it's there now.
> Note: I was going to comment on the eBay post card and the response on the TK message board. But, it is a "non-issue!"
October 2003
> So, there it was on their web site,... Quiet Riot saying good-bye. I talked with Kevin DuBrow on the phone a few days ago and,... while Kevin did request that his reasons for his lack of involvement remain private, he did confirm that Quiet Riot are currently not active. And right on the heels of our day trip to the Oklahoma State Fair in Tulsa to watch 'em play,...
> Added a guitar image and changed up some of the pictures in the Guitar Collection section,... Sam I am.
>
Added a trade publication ad promoting the 1981 Diary of a Madman UK
tour with the dates in the On Tour 73/82 section.
> I am giving away a dvd+r of Randy Rhoads and the Ozzy Osbourne Band performing on After Hours, in a Rochester, New York television studio playing four songs from the Blizzard of Ozz record.
September 2003
> I spent a few minutes today really listening to this new copy of the Over the Mountain pre-mixed version. I wrote about it in the mislabeled recording area,... the first one was a bad hoax. This new one (new to me) is a lot better,... but it is still not legitimate.
> Round 4 of the free cd give away,... two CDr's filled with Quiet Riot stuff and one with a couple of Ozzy tunes.
> Thanks
to Mike Hackett, Scott Oaks and a Iain Black,
I've added a bunch more tour dates in the ever growing list o' places Randy
has played. Dates from the 1981 US and Canadian tour,
more from the 1981 German Diary tour, and all the
dates from the (mostly) canceled 1981 UK Diary of a Madman
tour. I've added Ozzy's apology letter from Sounds
magazine (11.19.81) in with the tour dates.
> Added a Quiet Riot show or two to the Bootleg Checklist.
> I used to look in on, and sometimes post stuff in some Randy Rhoads message boards a long time ago,... but they became annoying, for a lack of better words. Then I somehow came across the randy rhoads.tk message board. This one actually seems to be a bunch of Randy Rhoads fans sharing info., stories, pictures, guitar tabs,... all sorts of stuff.
August 2003
> Got some CD's to give away,... Bernie Tormé, who played with Ozzy's band in April 1982 during the Diary of a Madman tour. After Randy and before Brad Gillis. Bernie's got a new record coming out with a US tour to follow,... what an autograph to add to your collection,... and what better to have him sign than one of his own CD's! And yes, I've got some more CD's and CDr's to give away next month,...
June/July 2003
> I'm starting to add my page of stuff for sale,... bare with me as I compile the stuff into an easily readable list. I have not yet listed prices, however,... feel free to make an offer while I'm in the process.
> Found some spare CDr's I've had lying around,... figured I'd start giving those away somehow. This first one has 19 tracks of Randy Rhoads during his Quiet Riot days.
June 2003
> I've also started to add some Quiet Riot shows to the Bootleg Checklist. Figuring that it might help with the Quiet Riot shows, as it has with the Ozzy shows, to weed out duplicate recordings.
> I've added one picture in the guitar section that Donnie Battenfield sent me of Randy playing a Destroyer. I believe those were built by Gibson, but, it looked more like a Dean (check it out via the link) with the v shaped tail piece. Turns out to be more like an old Dean Z. Also added a few more dates to the Tour Date page,... haven't added any ticket stubs images, just dates and places. I'm going to sell my posters and records (45's and 12" singles) and pictures,... I'll post a few images and a list of the stuff in the next few days.
