Kathy is the oldest of four children, with two brothers and a sister. She has a large extended family with lots of cousins. Many of these cousins are now married and have families of their own. It seems there is always some special event that brings the family together, such as birthdays, graduations, and weddings. It is really something to see all the little second cousins running around. We can't wait to see our child joining in the fun.
Wayne is the youngest of three children, with one brother and one sister. He has three nieces and two nephews who are all looking forward to their turn to babysit our new little one. Wayne's sister lives near by and we are able to see her often. Her home is the site of frequent barbecues and holiday dinners.
Kathy earned a degree in liberal studies with plans to become a teacher, and even taught pre-school for two years during college. Kathy now works for an insurance carrier as a Claim Account Executive. She has worked for the same company for over ten years, but is looking forward to her new career-FULL TIME MOMMY. Wayne works as a consultant for a large consulting firm, helping companies develop new processes and implement computer systems.
FRIENDS
We went to college and lived in the Sacramento area for over ten years. We moved back to the San Francisco Bay Area in 1996 after Wayne completed his masters degree. This has given us the opportunity to renew old friendships as well as meet many new friends. Nearly all of our friends have children.
We are Godparents to two children and really enjoy visiting with our friends and spending time with them and their children. We look forward to our annual trips to the snow, cutting down Christmas trees, and camping together.
We are eager to take on the lifelong responsibilities and joys of parenting. Our families and friends, some of whom have adopted themselves, are very excited about the open adoption process. Everyone is asking us "when?" As they witness our joy of us being with their children, they keep telling us what great parents we'll be. (We agree!)
LEISURE TIME
Kathy enjoys singing and playing the piano, and especially likes singing tunes on her karoke. Wayne likes to fish, camp, snow ski and play golf. We both enjoy the outdoors and taking weekend trips to the mountains where we hike, explore the local towns, and just plain relax. We recently purchased a boat, which is a great outlet for our family and friends. We look forward to sharing all of these fun times with our child.
We also enjoy volunteering in the community. This past year we helped out at Habitat for Humanity, the Lindsay Wildlife Museum, and at Children's Hospital. We feel that giving back to the community is important and want to instill this value in our children.
