ZEI, Inc. has a staff of highly qualified and experienced architects and engineers having experience in the design of site generation projects, including standby power. Out engineering staff is comprised of the following technical disciplines:
ZEI has implemented power generation projects for the following:
ZEI's technical staff have had principal mechanical responsibilities for the design of high pressure piping systems for central power stations ranging in size from 30 MW to 900 MW, with steam conditions up to 3,600 psig and temperatures to 1,050 degrees, in sizes up to 36 inches in both carbon and stainless steel materials. The company's experience covers designs to both ASME and ANSI standards. Experience in the design of large central power plants, using coal, natural gas, crude and residual oils, includes units up to 600 MW in size, as well as gas turbine/generator installations in the 7 to 60 MW size. ZEI's staff has experience in writing specifications for and the design of installations for open and closed feedwater heaters for large central stations. Retrofit installations of closed feedwater heaters having steel tubes have also been implemented by members of ZEI's staff. The design of the installation of other types of unfired pressure vessels, such as duct heaters, stack gas reheaters, evaporators and other heat exchangers, is also a part of the overall plant design experience of ZEI's staff. ZEI is experienced in engineering most types of demineralized water treatment systems, including reverse osmosis. Designs have included systems for once-through steam generators having minimum effluent limitations, as well as designs for a variety of inlet water qualities. ZEI's Instrumentation and Control staff has experience in pneumatic, electric and electronic control systems which includes automation of rotating equipment, as well as remote control systems, including the design of central control rooms. Some of the projects have involved the use of process computers to perform the control application. The spectrum of ZEI's experience has included design of control systems for both site and remote operating, the writing of specifications for procurement of the components, including the computer equipment, review of vendors' drawings, witnessing of testing at vendors' plants, and assisting in the debugging after completion of the installation. ZEI's staff members also have considerable experience in foundation design for power plant structures, coal-handling facilities, large turbine generator equipment, including induced draft, forced draft and hot gas recirculating fans, as well as combustion turbines and gas fueled reciprocating compressor units. Designs have consisted of soil bearing and piping-supported foundations, including the soil investigations and economic evaluations to select best types of foundations for existing conditions. Reciprocating engine foundations required special dynamic analysis to be certain that engine operating frequencies are not in resonance with the engines' foundation/soil support system. ZEI also offers a complete service relating to noise which includes noise measurement, design of noise attenuation enclosures and specifying noise limitations in conjunction with purchase of equipment, all in conformance with OSHA requirements.
