Francis Noonan, Ph.D.

 

PRESENT POSITION . . .

Dr. Noonan is currently on the staff of Worchester Polytech Institute as Professor in the Department of Industrial and Operations Research and serves as Consultant to ZEI, Inc.

EXPERIENCE SUMMARY . . .

Dr. Noonan, in addition to continuing his teaching career, has served as a consultant to industry and the United States Government on a variety of systems planning and operations research projects over the past fifteen years.

Some of his past experience includes:

Participated with ZEI, Inc., responsible for the application of operation research and statistical techniques for studies to determine the remaining life of cast iron and unprotected steel main in gas distribution systems.
Three years with New England Electric System, Department of management Science, as project head on an optimized generation planning study as well as a localized load forecasting study.
One year with Babcock & Wilcox as consultant on power systems planning projects.
Four years as Senior Systems Analyst with Dynamics Research Corporation as a consultant to the Air Force Systems Command developing cost/effectiveness models for the design of multi-echelon logistic and maintenance support systems, and as a consultant to Naval Applied Science Lab developing techniques for solving a wide variety of estimation and control problems in inertial navigation systems.
Two years as a Research Assistant, Department of Industrial Engineering and Operations Research, University of Massachusetts, involved in power systems planning and the application of operations research in industry and government.
Two years as an engineer with NASA, Electronics Research Center, involved in basic research in adaptive control and artificial intelligence techniques.
Two years as a physicist with the U.S. Navy, David Taylor Model Basin.
