Walter J. Woods, Jr., P.E.

 

PRESENT POSITION . . .

As Senior Project Manager for ZEI, Inc., Mr. Woods is responsible for the overall engineering design, drafting, equipment and material specifications, permit applications, feasibility studies and reporting for major natural gas transmission projects.

EXPERIENCE SUMMARY . . .

Prior to joining ZEI, Inc., Mr. Woods was Director of Engineering, Construction, Land and Storage Acquisitions, and Administration for ANR Pipeline Company, responsible for all projects involving natural gas facilities, both on and offshore, construction of the facilities after they were designed, and directing the Land Department in acquiring necessary right-of-way, storage field rights, and other land. Mr. Woods was also responsible for directing a group that did the budgeting and accounting for four other departments in the company.

Mr. Woods, during his more than thirty years in the energy field, has been involved in designing pipelines and associated compressor stations for both onshore and offshore installations, preparing feasibility studies for major pipeline projects, metering facilities and customer interconnections. He also was in charge of field fabrication, construction, installation and startup of one of the first and, at the time, largest offshore compressor complexes, in the Gulf of Mexico. Mr. Woods also worked in storage field development, was responsible for operating an offshore pipeline and related facilities for a five-member partnership (HIOS) and served as Director of Plant Management for a large cogeneration project in Hartford, Connecticut.

Other areas of experience are Director, Gas Operations and Gas Supply, Chief Design Engineer, Manager of Compressor Design and Engineering Analyst in the long-range planning department.

Mr. Woods has testified before the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and worked with numerous federal, state and local officials to obtain the necessary permits and authorizations to build pipelines and related facilities.

Mr. Woods was ANR Pipeline Company's Executive Director on the American Gas Association Pipeline Research Committee (AGA-PRC) and served as Chairman of the Line Pipe Research Committee. He twice co-chaired, with the Director of the European Pipeline Research Group (EPRG), a pipeline symposium which was attended by representatives from most European Countries, Japan, Canada and the United States.
